Troop Troops!
Southwestern Jewish Press, May 27-June 9, 1955, Page 7
No, it’s not a typographical error – Boy Scout Troop 999 takes an overnight outing this weekend way up there in Green Valley Falls, with tents, canteens, flashlights and everything under the leadership of Senior Troop Leader Gary Fine, recently elected to that office. Some sixteen lads are going, chaperoned by none other than Barney (Bucky) Cory, who, we suspect, will live like a sybarite for two days. The reason? Two crack scouts, Steve Ross and Arnold Cory, promise to rig his tent, cook his meals and feed him his bicarbonate of soda afterwards. They expect to have a whale of a time.
If your son is eleven years old or older, send him down to Tifereth Israel Temple, 30th and Howard any Monday night at 7:30 and have him join as fine a troop as you will ever cast an eye over.
And if you can use the job of Scoutmaster, we’ll hang out the banner and sing “Hail the Conquering Hero” because we sure need one bad! You’ll have an experience you’ll never forget, piloting an alert, aggressive troop you can be proud of! Call Jack Fine at Atwater 4-2420 and make us happy by taking the job.

(Wonderful World of Passover)
Southwestern Jewish Press, May 27-June 9, 1955, Page 8
Sam’s mother took justifiable pride in her Passover table. The traditional dinner, it took the traditional work. But now the work was over, and the family was together, at one with Jewish families throughout the world. Before the Seder, she asked her three year old granddaughter: “Do you know what tonight is, Francine?” The child replied without hesitation. “Yes, grandma – Disneyland.”
