Why Mike Pence thinks Donald Trump is like Martin Luther King Jr.

SAN DIEGO−On Sunday Mike Pence compared Donald Trump’s new proposal on border wall funding to Martin Luther King’s activist philosophy.  To Pence, Trump is the White King (though not as white as Pence).  Here’s why:

*

Both King and Trump have been unfairly persecuted by the FBI for their relationships with women and foreign governments.

*

Tweeting and shutting down the government are non-violent strategies.

*

Impressed by the size and solidity of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Trump is considering placing thousands of replicas along the border with Mexico to win over Democratic votes for building a wall.

*

King Jr. pioneered the idea of having buildings, streets and parks named after him.

*

King Jr. was quoted as saying, “There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.”  Trump made the same point after Charlottesville when he commented, “You had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides.”

*

Campaign slogan for 2020: “We shall overcome whatever is left of Obama’s legacy.”
