TEL AVIV (Press Release)–EL AL Israel Airlines and Jewish National Fund (JNF), two leading recognizable names associated with the State of Israel, have announced a new effort to help rebuild some of the devastated areas that resulted from the worst fires in Israel’s history.
The EL AL and JNF forest will be planted on Carmel Mountain on behalf of every passenger purchasing a ticket to Israel online from North America. EL AL President Elyezer Shkedy and Jewish National Fund CEO Russell Robinson met this weekend in Israel to discuss and announce this initiative.
“EL AL Israel Airlines is committed to help restore the Carmel Forest in response to this terrible tragedy and is proud to partner with JNF,” commented Shkedy. “As the national airline, it is our tradition and responsibility to participate in such an important project to assist those in need. We look forward to being part of the recovery process in the region which is home to thousands of families and wildlife.”
EL AL customers in North America who purchase a ticket to Israel online at www.elal.com will receive a certificate that EL AL and JNF are planting a tree on their behalf. Every year, tens of thousands of passengers departing from the USA purchase their EL AL tickets online.
The devastating fire, which broke out on December 2nd, has to date caused the tragic loss of 42 lives and more than 13,000 acres of forest in the Carmel Mountains have been destroyed.
