SAN DIEGO (Press Release) — Numerous activities have been scheduled to memorialize Lori Kaye, who was murdered by a gunman at Chabad of Poway last Saturday.
San Diego State University students and the Jewish Studies Program plan a noon vigil on Wednesday, May 1, in front of Scripps Cottage on campus to stand “against all forms of hatred and violence on our campus, in our community, and in our world.”
Another vigil is planned on Thursday, May 2, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. just outside UC San Diego’s Forums A and B, according to organizer Glenda Sacks Jaffe. Attendees are urged to wear blue in solidarity.
At 7 p.m., Thursday, “Lori’s challah bake” will be held at Chabad headquarters at 10785 Pomerado Road in the Scripps Ranch area. Organizers said “Lori Kaye loved to host, bake challah, and give challah to friends. An announcement added that Lori’s friends, relatives, and fellow congregants from Chabad of Poway would be in attendance>
Security will be tight, and an RSVP is required via this sign-up site.
On Friday, May 3, students at the four campuses of Bellus Academy, a cosmetology school, plan to wear blue and white, and to contribute $2 each as contributions to Chabad of Poway. One of the academy’s campuses is in Poway, with the others being in Chula Vista, El Cajon, and National City.
