HAIFA, Israel (Press Release)–An impressive crowd of leading Israeli business executives attended the University of Haifa’s Business Leaders Forum annual gala event on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at which Israeli businessman and industrialist Dov Lautman, founder of Delta Galil Industries, received the University of Haifa’s Business Leaders Forum award.
The award was given in recognition of Mr. Lautman’s longstanding contribution Israeli society. “I thank the University of Haifa, which contributes greatly to many social projects in the north; and it is an honor for me to be receiving this award from the University,” said Mr. Lautman in his acceptance speech.
“Dov Lautman’s values, especially his enormous investment in education and equal rights to education, are values that we share at the University of Haifa,” said President of the University of Haifa, Prof. Aaron Ben-Ze’ev, adding: “Our bond with Dov Lautman is based on social responsibility, and we are happy to take part in the mission that Dov has taken upon himself.”
Lautman called upon the business leaders attending the grand event to join his efforts to bring education to the top of Israel’s national priorities. “The fact that our leaders are busy with the political process ought not prevent them from being involved with social and especially educational matters too – we have been hearing that excuse for too many years,” said Lautman in his speech. “The ever-widening gaps in all areas of Israeli society concern me much more than the Iranian threat. The only way to stop these gaps from growing wider is through education,” he said.
“There are people whom everyone respects, and there are people everyone loves. You are the type everyone respects and loves. We all thank you for what you have done and for what you continue to do, and hope that you will continue telling us that it’s all about education for many years to come,” said Governor of the Bank of Israel Prof. Stanley Fischer in his congratulations to Lautman.
Also present at the event, orchestrated by CEO of the University’s Friends Association Shira Ben-Or, were Minister of Education, Gideon Sa’ar; Chairman of Israel Discount Bank, Dr. Yossi Bachar; President and CEO of Bank Leumi, Galia Maor; CEO and owners of Keter Israel, Sami Segol; Chairman and President of Mano Holdings, Moshe Mano; and more.
