Americans of all ideologies must stand together in Tucson rampage’s wake — Conference of Presidents

NEW YORK (Press Release)–The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations expressed its sympathy for the families of the people killed and its prayers for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and all of those wounded in Saturday’s shooting attack in Arizona.

“We share in the shock and sorrow at the senseless murderous attack in Tucson. We have had the privilege of knowing Congresswoman Giffords. She is deeply devoted to her country and her constituents and we join all Americans in praying for her speedy recovery along with all those injured. These tragic events should be a reminder to every one of the importance for the American people to stand together. The common stake we have in our country far outweighs our political and ideological differences. We send our condolences to the families of all those killed. We know how traumatic and terrible this is for the people of Tucson and express to them and to the Jewish community there our solidarity and support,” said Chairman Alan Solow and Executive Vice Chairman Malcolm Hoenlein.
