LA JOLLA, California — The Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center re-opened last Monday, with limitations to its fitness offerings. The staff is still finding its way, under the circumstances. Activities are available Monday through Friday, and Sundays.

The equipment from the fitness center has all been moved to the basketball court, which has the space to enable the required separation of participants.  One can work out in increments of 45 minutes, as staff comes to disinfect equipment for 15 minutes at the top of each hour.  There are chairs set aside at the edge of the basketball court to wait out the cleaning process.

In addition, the nearest tennis court has been reconfigured with required 6-foot separations, to enable professional led classes in zumba, fitness, yoga, cycling, stretching, Vinyasa Flow, and Pilates. Bring your own mats, etc.

The pool is open, also observing required separations.

The dressing/rest rooms are open, with functional lavatories, but the lockers are not available for use. Though one can change clothes, etc. there, you must carry your stuff with you, placing it in provided temporary, cubby holes at each site.

You must bring your own hydration water from home, as all the fountains are shut off. Also, bring your own workout towels, mats etc.

The only entrance is the one on Executive Drive, The JCC operates a station outside this entrance, for impromptu reservations, and confirmation of those reservations made on line to use the various facilities. Exit from the building is from a separate doorway.

JCC emphasizes the limited capacity at any one time, which has not been a problem, as attendance is well below space capacities thus far.

A number of classes are offered via zoom.us. Check with lfjcc.org for more complete details, to download schedules, and make reservations.
