American players April Ross and Alix Klineman were too strong for Australia in the Olympic women’s beach volleyball tournament, winning gold by 2-0. Ross, who won silver in London and bronze in Rio, and Klineman made a strong start in the first set, dominating in the air. Australia’s Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy were unable to catch up, with the US taking the set 21-15. After the break, the Australians opened scoring but the Americans were too strong, taking the set 21-16.
