SAN DIEGO (Press Release) — We are heartbroken by the news of the two devastating earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria. Right now, the death toll is over 20,000 and over 1 million have lost their homes. While an overwhelming number of buildings, homes and businesses have been destroyed, rescuers work around the clock to pull survivors from beneath the rubble amid freezing temperatures.
Jewish Federations are on the ground with our partners, responding quickly in the immediate aftermath of the disaster. We are able to respond swiftly in times of emergency because of our core funding, global partnerships and the work we do all day, every day.
150,000 people have been made homeless by the earthquakes and need to cope with the bitter cold in the region. Our focus, alongside our partners, will be on helping this population cope with living outside in difficult conditions by supplying thousands of tents, heaters, thermal clothing, ready-to-eat meals, and first aid kits.
But we need your help. Donate here to Jewish Federation’s Turkey and Syria earthquake emergency fund.
