Dear editor:
It shouldn’t be controversial to use the word “terrorists” when referring to terrorists.
A February 6 Reuters news article that was republished in San Diego Jewish World used the terms “militants,” “gunmen,” and “armed individuals” to characterize the Palestinian Arab terrorists who carried out recent attacks, such as the massacre of seven worshippers at a synagogue in Jerusalem’s Neve Yaakov neighborhood.
If we cannot agree that somebody who guns down innocent, unarmed worshippers in front of a synagogue is a “terrorist,” then the word has no meaning and might as well be removed from the dictionary.
Sincerely,
Stephen M. Flatow
