Harrison Relates Jewish Stories From Along the Interstate 5

LA JOLLA, California — Donald H. Harrison, author of a three-volume book on Jewish life in San Diego County along the Interstate 5, will describe his methodology and share some of the stories in a presentation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, at Yiddishland, 1128 Wall Street, La Jolla.

Harrison, who is editor emeritus of San Diego Jewish World, published Schlepping and Schmoozing Along the Interstate 5 last year. He drove northbound on the freeway from the Mexican border to the Orange County line, and found at least one Jewish story near every exit. This was the second freeway he has used as a device for telling Jewish stories, previously in 77 Miles of Jewish Stories, he followed the Interstate 8 exit by exit from the coastline to the Imperial County line.

Finding Jewish stories wherever he goes is one of Harrison’s passions. It led to the motto of this publication: “There is a Jewish Story everywhere.”

Information about admission to his talk may be found on the Yiddishland website.
