Jewish Community Ally: Iranian-American Dentist Stands with Israel

SAN DIEGO — At a time when advocacy for Israel has become increasingly contentious, Farhoud Rastegar, a dentist with Smile Makeover Center in Mission Valley, has made his position clear: he stands with Israel and its right to defend itself.

Dr. Rastegar has been a long-time advocate for Israel and the Jewish community. While
many professionals shy away from taking a public stance on global issues, he believes that
staying silent is an injustice.

“I’m proud to stand with Israel,” Rastegar says. “I have a sign in my waiting room that says, ‘We Stand with Israel,’ so that anyone who has a problem with that can leave and go
elsewhere. Other professionals choose to stay silent out of fear of losing customers, but I will
always put morals above profits.”

The sign isn’t tucked away in a corner—it’s displayed prominently on the wall, ensuring that
every patient sees it while they wait for their appointment.

For Rastegar, advocating for Israel is deeply personal. Born in Iran before the Islamic
Republic took over, he witnessed the country shift from pro-Western modernization to
extremist values fueled by hatred. The Islamic Republic has long supported the terrorist
organization Hamas, both of which have made it clear that they seek the destruction of Israel
and the Jewish people.

However, displaying support for Israel does not come without risk. Rastegar’s bold stance
has sparked conversations within the local community. Even after losing a few clients over this matter, he refuses to be intimidated. He wants to make it clear: Smile Makeover Center
stands with Israel.
