Vigdor to step down as director general of Jewish Agency to take similar post with Israel's Board of Higher Education

JERUSALEM (Press Release) — Jewish Agency Director-General Moshe Vigdor was appointed Director-General of the Israel’s Board of Higher Education by Israel’s Minister of Education, and will be leaving the Jewish Agency in February.

Since assuming his position as director-general in 2005, Vigdor oversaw the Jewish Agency’s strategic change, during which the organization underwent significant reform in its structure and management.

“I have been honored and privileged to serve as the Jewish Agency’s director-general, for it works to address both national and global Jewish goals,” Vigdor said in a letter to the Board of Governors. “Today’s Jewish Agency is managed efficiently and professionally, through the use of modern management tools, the most advanced technology, and transparency in all fields.  We have improved the level of service; we have become more professional and more aware of the expectations of our donors and our customers.”

Jewish Agency Chairman of the Executive Natan Sharansky expressed regret of Vigdor’s decision to leave. He thanked Vigdor for his outstanding work and dedication to the Jewish Agency, the Jewish people and the State of Israel, and for helping to bring to Jewish Agency to a high level of achievement through his dedication and skill.

Sharansky and Vigdor said they will work together in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition when a new candidate for the position is selected.

Vigdor will remain in his capacity as director-general through the upcoming Board of Governor’s meeting which will be held in mid-February in St. Petersburg, Russia.
