SAN DIEGO (Press Release)–The Board of Directors of Waters of Eden /San Diego Community Mikvah & Education Center has announced the appointment of Amy Bebchick as its first Executive Director.
Bebchick has more than 15years of experience working in non-profit organizations. She has previously served as Executive Director of Hillel at Miami University, Assistant Director of Development and Public Affairs for Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, and most recently Campus Director of Hillel of San Diego, North County where she worked with students, staff, and Board of Directors to establish Jewish campus life on North County college campuses.
“Amy’s experience growingorganizations, building partnerships, and creating meaningful and accessible Jewish life makes her uniquely qualified to lead Waters of Eden at this time,” commented Dr. Lisa Braun-Glazer, President of Waters of Eden’s Board of Directors.
“I believe strongly in the mission of Waters of Eden and I am proud to work with the Board and volunteer leadership to fund, build, and sustain a beautiful, accessible community mikvah,” stated Bebchick.
When completed in 2014, Waters of Eden will provide a unique center for Jewish continuity, spirituality, renewal, celebration and learning for the southern California region. The 4700 square foot complex will be dedicated to reclaiming the ancient tradition of immersion to serve the needs of the diverse 21st
century Jewish community. It is modeled on the highly successful Mayyim Hayyim Living Waters Community Mikvah and Education Center in Boston. Educational programming will be offered to enhance the mission of the center. Waters of Eden will break ground at the base of Cowles Mountain in 2012, on land donated by Tifereth Israel Synagogue.
