Hadassah Slates Regional Meeting Here May 19-22

Mrs. Gabriel Berg, Chairman of Hadassah’s 12th annual Southern Pacific Coast Regional Conference to be held at Hotel del Coronado, from May 19 through 22, has just issued a statement of plans for the conclave. There will be delegates from So. Calif., Ariz., El Paso and Las Vegas. Co-Chairmen are two Past Presidents of the Beverly Hills Chapter, Mmes. Mark Taper and Stanley Slotkin. The Greater Los Angeles Council, which includes the chapters of Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and San Fernando Valley, will be official hostesses. Mrs. Leo Hirsch, Regional President, will preside. Mentor for the Conference will be Mrs. Raphael Tourover, Washington Representative of the National Board of Hadassah.
There is no charge for a member attending any of the sessions. However, for the opening Banquet the San Diego Chapter has been allotted a certain amount of seats at $6.00 per person. Mrs. Edward Kitaen at HO 9-1389 will accept your reservation. NOw!
Assisting Mrs. Berg to plan the conference are Mmes. Harry Felson, Visual Aids Chairman; Rudolph Hess, Kit Assembly; Milton Y. Roberts and Julius Levin, Transportation; E. Al Slayen, David Block and Hyman Kitaen, Registration; Morton Thaler, Publicity.
Mrs. Edward Kitaen represents the local Chapter for Reservations and all local members should make reservations through Mrs. Kitaen only.

Bay City B.B. Women Hold Installation

The Bay City chapter of B’nai B’rith women will hold its eight annual installation on Thursday, April 25th at a noon luncheon in Mission Valley Country Club.
Mrs. Eugene Sacks, a distinguished worker for B’nai B’rith, will be installed as president. Assisting her as incoming vice presidents will be Mrs. Nat Colker, Mrs. Murry Samuels, and Mrs. Louis Entin.
Mrs. Ralph Schwartz, retiring president, will be honored with a pin in token appreciation of her devoted service this past year.
A ranking officer of District No. 4 will preside as installing officer and she will be assisted by Mrs. Sanford Sack, past president of Bay City Chapter.
Reservations for the luncheon may be made with Mrs. Murry Samuels.

On to Mexico City — Youth members of the united Synagogue Youth, Temple Teens, T.N. Teens, Beth Jacob Teens, AZ A and BBG are busy finishing their application blanks for the World Fellowship Contest sponsored by local Jewish organizations with the Jewish Community Center and the National Jewish Welfare Board.
Two youths–a boy and a girl will be chosen from San Diego to join the Leadership Training Institute and study of Jewish life in a foreign country. Tour members will visit important Jewish and Mexican institutes and will participate in all seminars, dancing, athletics and guided tours.
Serving on the Selections Committee are Dr. Harry Ruja, Rabbi Baruch Stern and Mr. Sidney Posin. One member of the Selections Committee will be appointed from each of the Synagogues and B’nai B’rith.
Applications for the World Fellowship Contest are available at the Jewish Community Center, 4056 University Ave and through any of the adult leaders in the organized Jewish Youth groups.

Senior Adult Exhibition and Participation — The Jewish Community Center, National Council of Jewish Women and the Hebrew Home for the Aged have been invited to show an exhibition at the Senior Citizen’s Conference to be held in Balboa Park Conference Building, April 30 and May 1st.
The Senior Adults of the Friendly Social Club will participate in the all day Conference to be held on May 1st in the same building. Continuous films, exhibits, a luncheon meeting, discussion groups and dramatic plays will be part of the program. From 1000 to 2000 individual senior adults are expected to attend the second day of the conference.

The Single Adult Activities Committee announces a new program for all single adults 30 years and over. The Center at 4056 University Ave., will open its doors every Sunday evening at 8 p.m. An informal program of games, dancing, refreshments and discussions will be held.
Mrs. Betty Husted and Mr. Manny Goldmintz, members of the Single Adult Activities Committee urge all single adults 30 and over to join in the fun.

Robert Baker, brilliant American Organist, will be presented in concert at the First Presbyterian Church, Fourth and Date Streets, Tuesday evening, April 30, at 8:15 p.m. The public is cordially invited to this even which is sponsored by the San Diego Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Admission will be free, but an offering will be received.
Dr. Baker serves as organist as the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, and also at Temple Emanu-El in New York City. He teaches organ at Union Theological Seminary and makes many guest appearances as lecturer and recitalist. He has been instrumental in popularizing recitals on the “king of instruments” including many broadcasts over the radio.
