My country is shut down
Congress has let us down.
And we must plead.
Land of enormous size,
It needs a compromise.
Support from Boehner’s side
That’s how to lead.
Here’s my analysis
Of our paralysis.
Let the House vote.
To fund the government,
On debts that we have spent.
Keep open monuments.
Don’t go for broke!
Services are not free,
Like Social Security.
Don’t risk it all.
Babies and moms on WIC,
Care for the poor and sick.
Light every candle’s wick.
Stop our free fall.
My country is shut down
Congress has let us down.
It’s not too late.
Land of enormous size,
It needs a compromise.
That is what would be wise.
Don’t hesitate.
