WASHINGTON, D.C. (Press Release)–U.S. Senator Charles Schumer (D-New York) placed a friendly wager with his colleague U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-California), over the 2014 Stanley Cup Final between the Rangers and the Kings, set to start the evening of June 4.
Schumer wagered a case of Brooklyn Lager beer and soft pretzels from a classic New York City food cart vendor outside the Rangers’ home stadium, Madison Square Garden. Boxer wagered beer from Eagle Rock Brewery and Pink’s hot dogs.
The Senators, @SenSchumer and @SenatorBoxer, formally placed their bet on Twitter.

“Congratulations to the New York Rangers and the Los Angeles Kings for making it to the finals, and I look forward to sipping Eagle Rock beer straight from the Stanley Cup when the Rangers win this year,” said Senator Schumer. “Los Angeles may have stolen our Dodgers, but there’s no chance they are taking our cup.”
Schumer continued, “The only real King on the ice tonight will be Henrik Lundqvist.”
“I am sorry my good friend, Senator Schumer, hasn’t noticed that the Kings won the Stanley Cup two years ago, and this year made an epic come-from-behind victory to get to the finals,” Senator Boxer said. “I look forward to celebrating the Kings’ victory over the Rangers with some special New York treats. Go Kings Go!”
According to the terms of the bet, if the Rangers beat the Kings, Boxer will purchase Pink’s hot dogs and Eagle Rock Brewery beer for Senator Schumer and his staff. If the Kings win, Senator Schumer will purchase Brooklyn Lager and soft pretzels for Senator Boxer and her staff.
