SAN DIEGO (SDJW)– Prof. Lawrence “Laurie” Baron, emeritus professor of history at San Diego State University and a regular contributor to San Diego Jewish World, has been appointed the Ida E. King Distinguished Visiting Professor of Holocaust Studies by the Richard Stockton College in Galloway, New Jersey.
In the fall semester of 2015 at the college named for one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, Baron will teach a course and seminar as part of the school’s undergraduate minor and MA in Holocaust and Genocide Studies. He will also assist in the programming and development of the college’s Holocaust Research Center and present lectures to community audiences in southern New Jersey.
Baron is the author of Projecting the Holocaust To The Present, which traced how movie-makers addressed Holocaust themes over the years, and additionally served as editor and contributor to The Modern Jewish Experience in World Cinema. For San Diego Jewish World, Baron has been writing two columns, “The Wandering Review” about Jewish-interest movies, and “Humoring the Headlines,” a satirical look at world headlines.
