Klezmer concerts slated for two San Diego County libraries

ENCINITAS, California (Press Release)–Jewish Klezmer musicians Alexander Gourevitch and the Freilachs  will put  on free concerts at two branches of San Diego County Library on May 30.

At 1:30 p.m. the concert will take place at the Encinitas library, located at 540 Cornish Dr, Encinitas, CA 92024.  At 3:30 p.m. the concert will be held at the Vista library, located at 700 Eucalyptus Ave, Vista, CA 92084.

Klezmer is a musical tradition of Judaism that is largely performed at weddings and other celebrations.  The style of music is very expressive, with many sounds that imitate the human voice and emotions, such as crying and laughing.  Alexander Gourevitch was trained in Russia and expresses his musical soul with his entire body as he plays the clarinet with passion.

These two free concerts are being sponsored by San Diego County Library and the Lipinsky Family San Diego Jewish Arts Festival.  For more information on the Lipinsky Family San Diego Jewish Arts Festival, taking place May 30-June 24, visit www.sdrep.org.  For more information about the San Diego County Library, visit www.sdcl.org, call your local branch, or connect with us on Facebook and Twitter.
