SAN DIEGO (SDJW) –Are Israeli cherries harvested during the Jubilee year?

Is Gefilte Phish one of Ben and Jerry’s best-selling Israeli ice cream flavors?

Are Tzitzit disease-carrying Mediterranean flies?

Did George Washington throw gelt across the Potomac River?

The answers to these and many other questions of Jewish Law, Tradition, History, and Popular Culture can be found in Rashi, Rambam and Ramalamadingdong: A Quizbook of Jewish Trivia Facts & Fun.

And beginning Monday, Feb. 9, you can find these answers and more on San Diego Jewish World, as we offer a new weekly Jewish trivia quiz from Mark D. Zimmerman, the author of Rashi, Rambam and Ramalamadingdong. Zimmerman, from Melville, New York, has a varied background as a Jewish communal professional, social worker, businessman, and writer, as well as a day school and synagogue lay leader. But his interest in all things Jewish, with a humorous bent, is driven by the Talmud’s statement that “A person who has knowledge has everything” and by Woody Allen’s spin on Jewish philosophy, “The lion and the calf shall lie down together but the calf won’t get much sleep.”

Zimmerman has been writing Jewish trivia for over 10 years, including three volumes of Rashi, Rambam and Ramalamadingdong as well as special editions for Passover and Chanukkah.

Look for Zimmerman’s Jewish trivia questions and answers every Monday on our website, and learn more about Rashi, Rambam and Ramalamadingdong at www.rrrjewishtrivia.com.
