SAN DIEGO─ Things to Say to Donald Trump Supporters when they say: “He’s funding his own campaign and is not beholden to any special interest group.”

Whether Donald Trump has ten billion dollars as he boasts, or only four billion as Forbes estimates, he is a special interest group. The corollary to the reasoning that he deserves to be elected because he is financing his own campaign is that only the rich can run for president, but I’ll defer to Bernie Sanders to refute this dictum.

“He says exactly what he thinks and doesn’t worry if it is PC or not.”

So do immature children, the mentally ill, and your eccentric aunt and uncle.  Being politic means being judicious in your deeds and words.  Is the antidote to Political Correctness Provocative Crassness?

“He’s going to make the United States great again?”

Bullying other countries with American military might, demeaning people on the basis of their nationality, race, or religions, and instigating trade wars will make America grate again.

“He’ll run the government just like a business.”

Presidents can’t run the government like a company because they don’t own the country.  Presidents must administer or veto budgets and laws passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate and abide by the Constitution and the rulings of the Supreme Court. I know this is a simplistic civics lesson, but Mr. Trump appears to believe in the amalgamation rather than separation of powers.

“He wrote the second bestselling book in history, The Art of the Deal.”

I know it will make him flip his wig or whatever that is on his head, but the sales of The Koran and Chairman Mao’s Red Book dwarf those of The Art of the Deal. Perhaps that’s why Mr. Trump dislikes the Chinese and Muslims so much!
