SAN DIEGO — Former San Diego City Councilmember Marti Emerald will be roasted Saturday evening, April 22, at an event sponsored by the City Heights Community Development Corporation from 6 p.mm. to 9 p.m. at the Fair@44 located at 4350 El Cajon Boulevard.
Emerald, who spent eight years on the city council, was described by the City Heights group as ” being “instrumental in making local parks and streets safer, adding hundreds of street lights and working with community members on many neighborhood projects.”
A television “trouble shooter” before her election to the City Counci, Emeralds roasters will include Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzales Fletcher; La Maestra CEO Zara Marelian; United Taxi Workers President Mikhail Hussein; United Way CEO Rabbi Laurie Coskey, and San Diego School Board Trustee Richard Barrera.
Tickets for the roast of Emerald, who is a member of the Jewish community, cost $75 for reserved table seating and $50 for belly bar, standing area tickets. Dinner, wine and local beer are included in the ticket price, with proceeds going to the City Heights Community Development Corporation.
