JERUSALEM (Press Release)– In response to the overwhelming reaction among Israelis to the arrival of hundreds of single Olim from the USA, Canada and the UK this past summer, the Aliyah organization has teamed up with popular Jewish dating site JDate Israel to create a portal for its Olim to meet Israeli singles.
As part of the initiative, a dedicated section will appear on JDate Israel’s homepage (www.jdate.co.il) inviting Israeli singles to post their information for the single Olim to see. The mini-site will allow Israelis to create a profile containing personal details together with a photo, which the new Olim can then visit to seek out potential dating opportunities.
In September, after the arrival of 94 singles on the summer’s final Nefesh B’Nefesh-JAFI charter Aliyah flight –the organization was inundated with hundreds of requests from Israelis hoping to be able to meet the new arrivals. The hype surrounding the ‘singles flight’ was boosted when one of the girls on the flight was proposed to by her boyfriend on the stage at the Aliyah Welcoming Ceremony.
“Not only were singles calling us, but many concerned mothers were also contacting us to inquire about ways to introduce the new Olim to their children” said Nefesh B’Nefesh Vice Chairman Erez Halfon. “Meeting and socializing with Israelis is an excellent way for new Olim to integrate into Israeli society and culture.”
While the initial site will be accessible to single Olim arriving on the December 29th flight, the intention is to expand it to include all of the 5,000 singles that Nefesh B’Nefesh has brought to Israel from the USA, Canada and the UK since 2002.
“We have found that there is a very strong demand among Israelis to meet and date Anglo Olim” said Noa Cohen JDate Israel site manager. “We are excited to be able to partner with Nefesh B’Nefesh to help these Israeli singles meet western Olim.”
