A New Home for the Bezalel Academy

A plaque embedded into the entrance wall of the building states in Hebrew, Arabic and English: “Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem; Based on principles of human dignity, equality, pluralism and freedom of thought, speech and creative expression.” One can only hope that the students, who come from all segments of Israeli society, will benefit from this noble aspiration. TICO, Celebrating Golden Anniversary, Has Memorable Concert at the JCC

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, TICO, the Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra, under the direction of David Amos, gave a memorable concert at the Garfield Theatre of the Lawrence Family JCC Sunday, November 26.  Because of the configuration of the hall, most of the well-filled audience seats allowed visibility of all the musicians. It was coincidence that two artisans who exhibited their work at Temple Emanu-El’s artisans festival on Sunday, Nov. 5, both had scientific backgrounds. Jonathan Rosenberg had worked prior to retirement as an immunologist at PharmaGen and at Becton, Dickinson (BD) during 16 years of his career. Ceramicist Herman’s Works are ‘Intentionally Not Conceptual’

Ceramicist Josh Herman’s tile work is on display throughout the upscale Paridisea Restaurant in the remodeled interior of the Piano Building in La Jolla’s Bird Rock neighborhood.
