Anti-Israel Forces Block Ship in Oakland, Food Festival in Philadelphia

First they prevented a privately-owned Israeli ship from unloading its cargo in Oakland, California, across the bay from San Francisco. On Sunday, they succeeded in canceling a food festival in the Kensington section of Philadelphia because the organizers dared to allow an Israeli food truck to participate. [Bruce S. Ticker]

Jewish Family Service Has Unit to Help Jews in Need

The chief executive officer of Jewish Family Service of San Diego estimates that between 10 and 20 percent of the Jews who live in San Diego County are at or below the poverty line.  To help them, and any other Jew in need, JFS has created  a culturally-competent Center for Jewish Care, reports Michael Hopkins, the JFS CEO.  Currently, the center has three fulltime staff members, but according to Carole Yellen, JFS senior director of strategic partnerships, that number may soon be doubled. Making Our Nation Safe From Computer Hackers

Some small-minded sages are chortling in America that people with electric cars don’t have to worry about the Colonial Pipeline, shut down by a cyber attack, because they can get their “gas” from the electric company. They go on to argue for more electric cars. Of course if it was the power company that was knocked out, the electric cars would not run. And power companies have been knocked out.  The Russians killed one in Ukraine, putting it offline for some time. [Stephen D. Bryen]
