America’s Jewish community always knew that there was no vaccine or antidote for the disease of antisemitism, but prior to Oct. 7th, it felt the disease could be kept in check. “We developed a containment strategy, a firewall, to make sure that here we could keep it in the sewers, with the covers on,” Abe Foxman told a “Standing Together” symposium Sunday that was jointly sponsored by the American Jewish Committee and the Jewish Federation of San Diego. Using an LED projection screen as the background, the colorful scenes used a variety of illustration styles. Some backgrounds looked like they came out of the pages of children’s books; others were hyper-realistic. [Sandi Masori]

San Diego County, Sandi Masori, Staff and Bylined Contributors, Theatre, Film & BroadcastWe decided to follow her suggestions and got the hibiscus masala and matcha matcha mocktail drinks. The hibiscus was ok, a little bitter but made me feel like I was being healthy. The matcha, which I’m not usually a fan of, was to die for. It tasted like a creamy green tea whipped ice cream float. Really yummy. For food we ordered the pea and potato samosa, the beet and Asian pear salad, and the roasted barramundi. [Sandi Masori]

Especially when you’re paying a premium for kosher meat, it must not only be as good as the non-kosher version, but even better to justify the higher cost. 2- great service, if you don’t feel welcome in the restaurant, why would you ever go back? And 3- good ambiance. [Sandi Masori]

Business & Finance, San Diego County, Sandi Masori, Travel and Food, USAIn all of this you’re probably wondering where my Jewish angle is… well I couldn’t find one. I guess the real answer here is that even though it’s a show that’s about a holiday we Jews don’t celebrate, theater is still fun and a good time can be had by all. [Sandi Masori]

San Diego County, Sandi Masori, Theatre, Film & BroadcastIn this version Jewish playwrights Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen have adapted it with hilarious anachronistic references to San Diego and pop culture. As soon as the show opens they show us what to expect when they reference the stage ghost light and then say that San Diego has too many ghosts, like those at the Hotel Del, The Whaley House, or the Chargers Fan Club.
