Susan Hendrix (Shealyn Sailors) was recently blinded in an accident. During her recovery she met her husband, Sam (Jim Miller). The two live in a basement apartment in Greenwich Village, New York City. With Sam’s constant independence coaching and some help from Gloria (Ashlyn Graves) a little girl who lives upstairs, Suzy successfully navigates her apartment and has memorized important phone numbers and routines. PowPAC’s production brilliantly captures the perplexing and frustrating disconnect between father and son. Gene (Steve Murdock), a young widower, attempts to carve a new path in his life, but heeds the tug of caring for his aging parents. Benjamin Franklin is supposed to have said, ”Guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days.” Well, The Man Who Came To Dinner at PowPac Theatre bears this out! In Moss Hart’s and George Kaufman’s play, this adage comes to life. Directed by Rhiannon McAfee, the marvelous cast of the Julia Smith production delivers the tale of a self-important, “bombastic” man who manipulates his minions for his own design. [Eva Trieger]

The Dickensian setting, in impoverished London, serves as the backdrop for Todd’s quest to locate his daughter and dispatch Judge Turpin and Beadle Bamford (Hunter Brown) who have destroyed him and robbed him of his life, family and liberty. [Eva Trieger]

Though the Bard is regaled and celebrated as a most prolific playwright and sonnet producer, not everybody is a fan!  I Hate Hamlet, Lamplighters Community Theatre’s delightful comedy, exposes why not everyone adores his 38 scripts. Now some folks feel that politics is no laughing matter. Our leaders must be smart, charismatic, trustworthy and cool under pressure. There is little room for levity or indecisiveness. Luckily for San Diego audiences, PowPac Theatre believes the polar opposite.
