              SAN DIEGO — Melanie Rubin, who spotted this gem, asks: “Does it take chutzpa to put chutzpa on your license plate?”  In our opinion, not at all.  Just a sense of humor.  

SAN DIEGO — Melanie Rubin, license-plate spotter extraordinaire, found it, and Shahar Masori, Israeli-born son in law of the publishers, translated it:   “Kal means light as in lighter than air.  And ram means high as in higher than a kite…” Somebody, obviously, is feeling great!    

SAN DIEGO– Melanie Rubin, our license plate maven, spotted this vanity plate, owned by Safta L, who no doubt is very proud of all her grandchildren.  Whatever else the “L” stands for, it stands for “love.”

    SAN DIEGO– In Hebrew, “safa” means “language,” which prompted license plate spotter Melanie Rubin to wonder whether the driver wanted those behind him to “watch their language.”                

SAN DIEGO — Eagle-eyed Melanie Rubin, remembering her Book of Genesis, spotted this Jewish-interest license plate, which recalls the name of the patriarch Abraham’s brother.

  SAN DIEGO — Our chief license plate spotter, Melanie Rubin, saw these two license plates for titled grandparents.  Dr. Bubbe evidently refers to a grandmother who has a doctorate, whereas HonZady, may well mean “honorable grandfather,” perhaps a holder of public office.

     Melanie Rubin never fails to spot a Jewish-interest license plate.  As “18” is the numeric equivalent of the Hebrew word “chai” (life), we can think of this license plate as reading “Chai David!”
