Black Hole Gaia BH3 Estimated to be 33 Times Heavier than Mass of Our Sun

An international team of researchers, with the participation of researchers from Tel Aviv University (TAU) led by Professor (emeritus) Tsevi Mazeh of TAU’s Raymond and Beverly Sackler School of Physics and Astronomy, have discovered a star which orbits a black hole 33 times heavier than the sun’s mass and lies 1,500 light-years away from Earth. The black hole, discovered using data from the European Gaia spacecraft, is more than three times heavier than the other known black holes in our galaxy. [Press Release]

ADL Reports 8,873 Antisemitic Incidents in U.S. in 2023

ADL (the Anti-Defamation League) on Tuesday, April 16, released the final statistics for antisemitic incidents in 2023, reporting a total of 8,873 incidents of assault, harassment, and vandalism across the country. S.D. Jewish Institutions to Receive $1.39 Million in State Grants

Six Jewish institutions in San Diego County received a total of $1,391,850 in security grants, including $250,000 each for the Chabad Hebrew Academy, Jewish Federation of San Diego County, and the little known San Diego Community Kollel, located on El Cajon Boulevard in the College area.
